Why not? One of the wealthiest cities in Canada what with the oil industry. Plus the wide open plains of Alberta, and the Rockies nearby. I love that kinda stuff to be honest, would be great for hiking.
And who knows, maybe I will learn to ride at some point

Still, you should jump on the plane and go 'cus if it doesn't turn out, you can jump back on the plane and head home.

Hiking - Alberta. Maybe Hiking = BC. And you're tired of hiking in Scotland, didn't think that would be possible but to each their own.

Trust me, I have Canadian citizenship. I hold a Canadian Passport, along with the little Canadian "Certificate of Citizenship" card that you get. Believe me, there's no issues there!!
Don't think I imagined it when I went through immigration at Calgary Airport and flashed my passport and citizenship card and I was almost waved on through. "Welcome home sir!"
And yes....the guy did actually say that.

Anyway just go for it mate, you've got nothing to lose, and if it turns out to be a no-go, get on a plane and come back.
