Not that I give a rats arse about it being 'British'.

Its simply that if you speak English and are from a western country you more than likely get a better chance of getting employed in an English speaking country.

Rio or Rome, yes, but lots of people in India speak English and that whole love of bureaucracy is very British so I'm not sure about Toronto vs. Delhi. Apart from the government, this really isn't a very WASPish place anymore.

Fair point - yes I realised that when seeing the place. But thats just isolating one area, and... yes I made the comparisons, so I am to blame. But as a you would not call Bradford in the UK like Delhi you surely would not call Toronto like Delhi even though Bradford is to a large extent an Asian community. And if you take the overall population those from UK and French decent still account for over 80% of the Canadian population. The UK being 60%. Pretty well much mirrored across many western countries.

(not sure where this is going now?....and what the point is!. I was just trying to agree to some of the points made and I still get shot down. May as well just rubbish everything anyone says just for the hell of it. I am confused)

one of the reasons I like canada is because it so well mixed. I have lived near Sikh people in Uk for years, and I fnd them really hardworking, civil, and a really good social mix. Muslims in Uk are a much harder group to get along with. They seem to have alot of issues.

But hearing Toronto compared To delhi, and references to Bradford which is only 15 miles from where I live.......Are some comments here a bit over the top?

Well, yes. Toronto's not very much like I imagine Delhi to be but it's not very British either, it's more NYC-lite; people from a lot of different countries living in close proximity speaking their own languages and following their own cultures without getting excited about it. A plodding multiculture rather than a vibrant one.

I'd think Brampton's more like Bradford.
