5 1/2 years left on mortgage in UK, if i do move to BC i will have to go back to 20 year all at 44 years of age. Im i nuts for doing this. (I will have equity but as BC is so damn expensive lol i will still need a sizeable mortgage)

I'd live in Canada and have a bigger mortgage or dont move to BC, go somewhere cheaper in Canada.

No everyone moves here and becomes debt free - my mortgage is well over double what it was in the UK. If you can afford it, and the change in environment and lifestyle is what you want, then why not?

Completely agree with RICH. Our mortgage is slightly bigger but our standard of life here is MUCH BETTER

Not everyone has a better standard of living upon moving here. It will depend on your employment prospects. At age 44, you may be facing a lot of competition for mediocre jobs, in a pitifully small market, unless you have a highly sought after skill. Why not buy a holiday home and have the best of both worlds?

Not mad. Clinically insane, perhaps.

You'll have to explain to them what is first, all taping and mudding here, nobody ever skims anything, just paint straight onto the dry wall (plaster board). Mind you it does seem that taping and mudding 'skills' are in high demand even though they are a hell of a lot less skillful than any UK plasterer I have encountered.
