Is it really that bad? Will the bubble burst in a big, bad way at some point?

hey there guys.
just thought id share my landing experience:D....and its not a horror story.
we got to glasgow airport to fly to ottawa with zoom.we were 60 kilos over our baggage allowance..(i jest you not)....and at £6 a kilo it looked bad,but with a bit of sweet talking and explaining our situation,we got away with a £60 charge......so zoom airlines rock
the flight was excellent...went by really quickly, mostly because my 15week old son wanted loads of daddys attention.....we landed half an hour early, and by the time my wife had changed the wee man,and got the stroller, there was nobody at passport control.and there was nobody at immigration....which only took 5mins.then we headed to the baggage bit,to find our lonely(but heavy) bags waiting on a trolley for us.
the customs bit didnt take long and they were well impressed when we produced our b4 forms all ready for them.
then the best part....we were supposed to go elsewhere to get the cat.....pets dont normally get dealt with at the airport,if you use an agent....
my little cat was brought to us,she was in great condition but a little pissed at us(i dont blame her)....so we paid a service fee of $32 to cbsa for her and we were free to go....the whole episode took less than an hour.
i am still pinching myself because the whole process was so simple, the flight crew were great,as were the immigration and customs, plus other airport staff at ottawa were amazing and helpful.
so its great to be here, and im shortly heading out to buy furniture and other fun stuff.....so thanks again to all, and thanks to those who sent me karma....much appreciated as it definetly worked:thumbsup:
regards to all
Paul

Hi Paul

Well done in getting there and good luck with the settling in.

Inflation in the city is running around 5% I believe, down from 7.5% last year.

They're saying that housing prices are leveling off but not showing any signs of collapse.

Article in today's Calgary Herald saying the shortage of workers is forecast to be indefinite.

I don't really know if the bubble will burst, perhaps a little air may be let out but no big bad pop on the horizon.

To be quite honest and at the same time totally selfish a big bad pop wouldn't be such a bad thing for me, being retired and house already paid for.

Only when there's snow on the ground, then I can't get at the worms and bugs.

Steve, why don't you sell your house, buy a cheaper property in, I don't know, off the top of my head, that's say, Ottawa, then you'll have bags load of mullahs to holiday in Florida for 4 months of every year!

For 2006

Domestic Flights = 86,058
Transborder = 24,884
Other International = 2,028

I would define the "Other International" as long haul.;)

I would define "Other International" as the once-daily AC flights to and from LHR, the seasonal cheapoes to the UK/France and the holiday flights down Cuba way. Ottawa isn't a hub. That's why it's quiet.

The biggest reason, she who must be obeyed says we are staying right where we are. ;)

Other reasons for both of us.

Family (Two sons, plus three grandchildren) live within twenty minutes of our home.

Excellent hospital (Cardiac care wise) fifteen minutes away.

She hates rain or cloudy (overcast) skies, must admit I'm kinda averse to them too.

It might be a tad crisp sometimes in winter but by and large Calgary's weather is pretty good, loads of sunshine. :)

So overall Calgary is almost ideal for us.

I'll swap houses with you, when I arrive. Only for a little while you understand, just to get used to sunshine.

Hi Paul -just back from my reccie yesterday and am a bit jetlagged and cant get the energy to write a post yet. Am ashamed when I see what a dedicated poster you are. We were thinking of your landing last weekend and wondering how it had went. It is good to hear that it went so smoothly. I hope you are enjoying your first week and the cat has forgiven you. My German Pointer Sasha wouldnt even look at me when we came home. She followed my OH around which she never does - she thought today she had punished me enough though and is my girl again.
Enjoy Ottawa - do you miss rainy Glasgy then?

Steve I see your sense of humour hasn't dulled any while I have been away:rofl:

I meant to record my reccie trip for the other BE posters - but I may do it now just to annoy you.

It's great to be back and having to watch all the old P's and Q's etc:p

But I wish it would get sharper:(
I've been looking through (thru) your posts, and they're spread ALL over the place, but I can't find out where you have actually been. The only place I can find mentioned is Dublin, but that was a stopover or something. Where did you go?

Hi Sharp Steve,
I have just posted it on the main Canada forum entitled "I Love Saskatchewan" - and no I haven't taken leave of my senses, we did love it. BTW we flew out from Dublin to Toronto to Regina.
