That's good news, I've only been to Toronto airport and that was heaving the last time we went. We were counting on an early afternoon landing to make sure we get to where we want to go before it got dark and the Ottawanians realised we were there:)

I was looking at distances from the airport and plane noise levels. Around Heathrow for instance (and I do realise it's rather more busier than MacDonald-Cartier) say Slough and Windsor, about 5 to 8 miles out, the sight and noise of aircraft is very pronounced all the time. Kanata area, where we are considering to settle is only something like 8 miles from the airport, I think you're even closer then that. Do you find aircraft noise is an issue?

I'm 15 miles north of the airport, so the only aircraft I see are those coming from or going to the far north. They are few in number. Most of the movements around YOW are east or west. Even then, Heathrow it ain't. If you look at the flight info on YOW's website, you'll see that there are really not that many movements. It doesn't handle big planes either.

Congrats to all the family, furry ones included - glad it was a positive and smooth experience - and long may that continue :thumbsup: Welcome!

Cheers, I'll sit by the window when I fly over in a couple of weeks and take a quick peek at your 2 bed house:)

So does this mean Ottawa is the least popular city destination in Canada?
Or does it equate with population size, Steve?

If you manage to see my house, your pilot is well lost.

If Souvette has managed to reduce the bedrooms from 4 to 2, I'll cry.

I'll ask him to do a detour, if he's a Canadian they apparently do anything to help.

Put your anorak back on and tell me how many YOW movements were long-haul.

Will this do?

For 2006

Domestic Flights = 86,058
Transborder = 24,884
Other International = 2,028

I would define the "Other International" as long haul.;)

Steve, step away from the air transport website, place the mouse gently down and go make yourself a nice wee cup of weak instant coffee. You're beginning to show signs of OCD. ;)
