Feel very sorry for you Claire, we were feeling this a while ago and then we were very fortunate and got the house sold. It is a very worrying period. Will your OH make enough to enable you to live seperately. Would you consider renting your house in Kent until you get a buyer and both of you go to Sask together

I can't answer you, we're in the same position as you are.
We are giving it till the middle of January if it hasn't sold by then we'll "give" it to a builder/investor
We've both had enough now, its too piggin stressful and there's no way I'm staying here, with OH starting work in new job and worrying about the bills over here.

Every house will sell if the price is right. Every house will sell quickly if the price is less than right.

If you can't afford to live apart then you really need to think about biting the bullet and dropping the price of your house to a level it will sell quickly. It's not nice, I know, but sometimes you have to take what you can and move on.

We left the country with our house still on the market. It is a risk no doubt, but we weren't prepared to be separated and for my hubby to lose his job offer out here. We changed agents to people we trusted, and made sure that we had a 2 relatives/friends lined up to manage affairs. We also informed the immediate neighbours who were happy to keep an eye on the place and make it looked lived in - put out the bins each week etc, and keep the grass mown.

There were issues when we got the buyer a little while later who tried to pull a few fast ones because he figured we'd want it sold quickly - but overall it worked out fine. We all compromised - deed done. We're here!

If we'd waited it out in the UK, we'd not have got on the property ladder here so fast and would have missed some good priced real estate. I believe it would also have been harder for hubby setting up in a new country on his own without having us around (though he may think different ).

We're currently renting our house, so all I can say is THANKS A LOT FOR PUTTING OUR MINDS AT REST

Mind you my wife was terrified of the idea after watching the film Pacific Heights with Michael Keaton...

So long as you've got decent agents who vet your tenants properly, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

I would try and avoid hubby going out to work and you staying in the UK - I did it for 6 months whilst our house sold and it was a living hell (but there again it could also have been that he left me to pack and sort out every inch on our 4 bedroom semi )

I think that it is so important to keep your whole family together in one country and this is exactly what I would do if I had my time again - but have already told Phil that if he wants to move again he can chop me up in a box and mail me there cos I ain't moving no way

Claire you have my sympathies, my hubbie and I are separated at the moment and I am staying behind to sell the house (which as you say is a slow process at the moment).

It is a struggle financially running 2 homes. We were lucky enough to have a few things we could sell to raise some short term capital and little things like getting your 25% council tax discount if you are a sole occupant, cancelling Sky TV, sitting in the dark with some candles etc, all work well.

Life is never straight forward but I guess if these things were too easy we wouldn't appreciate the end result as much (hoping we eventually get there of course).

You have to do what is right for you and your family.

Good luck and don't worry, it will all work out.

Sarah.

Hi Claire,
I am hoping that I am not going to be in the same position as you we are waiting to hear about a job in SK and will then have to do LMO and WP. We are presuming that OH will have to go ahead, me sell house and follow with kids later....

Not looking forward to it, What we had decided was just to wait and see what happens....Think you only have a couple of choices either rent the house out, or drop your price...

I am sure that neither of them are what you want, but what do you really want more than anything???

Hope it all goes well.

Hi Claire

We are in an almost similar position, haven't had PPR yet but medicals sent off approx 3 weeks back.

We have dropped the price by 35k and, as I type, are putting in another bedroom (living in a bomb site!) to try and increase target market. Hopefully, we will have is "staged" by Christmas ready for a big sales push in the new year - a worsening market which I want to get out of ASAP - whether we go to Canada or not.

We have until Oct next year to sort if out, if not, we will try to rent it out & go together, there is no way I would want to be without my hubby, even though he drives me mad sometimes! (living in a bomb site!)

Things will happen when they're meant to, I know it's easier to say but try not to worry. Drop the price / rent it out to a trusty source just get yourself off!

Best of luck

Kelly
