Hi all
I just thought I'd post this message, as I'm sure like me, there are new people coming to the board all the time, and starting of their investigations into moving to Canada.
About 4 months ago, we started our journey by e-mailing several Emigration consultants in the UK, explainig what we were looking to do, only to be told "sorry, you don't qualify"..."come back to us when you've got 67 points" (thanks Global Visas) no-one could be bothered to take the time to explain the various alternatives to the standard skilled worker route at all.
Thanks to the marvellous help on this site, especially the Wiki, I now have a positive LMO for a job I was offered on our recce trip in April, and we land at the end of August. 3-4 months, from inception.
In terms of pro advice, you are far better served with a consultant IN Canada, such as you will find in these very forums. Don't waste your time with UK based ones.
So don't give up on your dream, make it happen.
Don't qualify? I see you over there!!

Congratulations!
I do hope you've emailed the people that turned you down to tell them you've already sorted a job and are on your way to Canada all on your own!

Good for you. Its interesting what you say about using immigration consultants based in the UK - I've heard similar things. It seems that the majority of them handle visas to many different countries and dont really have time to stay abreast of all the current immigration streams for Canada. For instance quite a few people I know have been encouraged to apply as skilled workers whereas they could have moved to Canada in a fraction of the time through provincial nominee programs but the consultants never mentioned these to them (presumably they didnt know about them!).
