Tax return - Do we need to complete one?

Tax return - Do we need to complete one?
This may seem a really daft question but I'll ask it anyway! We landed in March but aren't actually moving to Canada until our daughter has finished her GCSE's. Do we need to complete a Canadian Tax return annually as landed residents even though we're not actually living there yet?
Thanks in advance.

You will need to do that after you've become residents of Canada for tax purposes. That will happen when you come here to live.
The tax year goes from January1st to December 31st. Your tax return is due by the following April 30th.
If you move to Canada on, say, July15th 2009, you will need to complete a tax return that covers the period from July 15th to December 31st 2009. That tax return will be due by April 30th 2010.
You will need to submit a tax return even if you're an employee and even if your employer deducts taxes from your wages at source.
There are some great articles, written mostly by JonboyE who is an accountant, in the Taxes-Canada section of the Wiki.
