Hi Silverbug,

Sorry to hear that you are homesick. Its pretty hard going sometimes, especially in the first few months. It took me a good 6 months to really get my act together and even now I have the odd day where I just miss popping over to have a cuppa with my inlaws. I've been here since Aug 07.

Have you thought about joining the Calgary Newcomers Group? As the name implies its for newcomers to Calgary and its for women of all ages and all backgrounds. They have loads of different groups that meet up regularly. There are a few brits but I've found that the majority are from Canada.

If you want any further info, I'll be happy help. Just pm me.

Hi,

I am Susan who asked months ago for a meet up- Little Tasha replied, she lives in Silverado (Cal) and I live in Lake Chapparel, and I hope she doesn,t mind me saying, we have been a enormous help to each other and had good laughs.
we would love to meet up with you, homesickness, and sheer lonliness gets to me for sure, and the nieghbours clsoing their garage doors too quickly, gets me down, but this is a great city, and I am enjoying it a little more everyday. Saw the newcomers details in my welcome waggon ppack ( got it last week 3 months after moving in) Sounds a great idea, should I take the plunge?

Hi Susan,

I have found the newcomers club pretty good as I am part of the Moms and Tots section. We meet up everyweek and also have a Moms night out once a month which is usually a really good laugh.

The Newcomers club has a load of different groups ranging from the Moms and Tots (North and Central groups) to Hiking groups, dinner clubs, theatre going and loads of other ones that I can't remember. If you want to meet people, its certainly one way of doing so.
