Hi all, just browsing, so I thought Id say hi, we are Mike and Wendy, we live in Durham and hopefully moving to Vancouver Island shortly. Mike has just been offered a job, woohooo, Wendy is a buisness woman who runs her own beauty and hair salon. We are thinking of perhaps doing the same when we land.
Once again, hi.

Hi d209,
Im a Mechanical Engineer by trade, was recently in the Army and now work in the quality / ISO 9001 field. Ive already asked how the salon idea might work on the Island, most people suggested that a UK hairdresser would be welcome. I hope thats true.

That's funny, my husband has just left the navy and he's a mech. engineer, specialising in gas turbines and hydralics. how did you find your job? did you have much trouble getting your qualifications validate?
best wishes

Good luck. We moved across to Calgary in April of this year from Consett, and love it. Best decision we ever made.
Hope it all goes to plan for you.

Hi my name is Karen and I have just been offered a job in Richmond, Vancouver to start in April as a nurse. My husband was in the Royal Navy as a marine engineer, have been told they are short of this trade in Canada. He will not be seeking employment until we arrive. We are trying to decide where the best place is to rent, thought it might be best to stay near the hospital and get our bearing first. Anyone with any suggestions?

I heard B.C. ferries are hiring, but don't quote me.
Best wishes and good luck with your job

Hi Mike and Wendy, we live in the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island and love living here! There are quite a few Islanders on here from all over. Good luck with everything!
