help and desperate

hi,
My partner and i am have both sent our passports for the visa to Buffalo.It is nearly a month now (sent September 5th ) since we haven't heard anything .the e-client status changed two weeks ago (decision made) but now we are desperate to get the passport back for family emergency purpose!!!
We have our lawyers in Canada who are representing us and they have provided us with a tracking number which is not working (meaning the passport are not in the canadian post yet).we have faxed buffalo for twice and the lawyers have done so as well but still no sign of the passports.
we don't know what to do and we urgently need our passports back !!!any ideas,suggestion !!!
