Can I recommend the Digital Home Canada website and forums for info on all things home entertainment and HDTV. http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/
Through Rogers cable we have 10 or so HD channels. Is it worth it? Well it does look good on the 51" TV in the basement!

We have both Plasma and LCD tvs. LDCs for the boys room (good for consoles) and 2 Panasonic plasmas for the living room and family room.
You have to subscribe to get HDTV or get it free when you subscribe to 6 packages. We use Bell ExpressVu and have 2 PVRs which means there are 2 tvs linked to each which can both watch different programmes and record separately. Each TV also works independently. PVRs are great for skipping the ads and pausing or rewinding live tv.
Here are the HDTV channels available.
The picture quality is fantastic and you certainly notice the difference compared to a non-HDTV channel. Movies in particular are fantastic quality.
There is usually a special offer when you sign up. At the moment we pay $67 for full package which includes HDTV and movies free. Once our 6-month offer is up we will pay $123 per month which sounds like a lot but in the UK we paid around 60 GBP for 1 PVR (no HDTV).
Sometimes, close-ups of people on HDTV can be scarey. Lovely Cat Deeley's eyelashes looks like a couple of big fat hairy spiders have landed on her eyelids and Simon Cowell's 'American' veneers are almost fluorescent white

Sounds like alot?? it IS alot! I was paying Videotron $30 a month to have high speend internet as well as basic cable TV package (including public stations & a few cable channels like Discovery, Much Music, Global(crap reception on aerial) and Life channels all flicker free... there's other french channels I'm forgetting too... think it was a total of about 50 channels french & english I was getting on that package. I also subscribed during one of their 'free installation' periodical offers as normally the installation fees run to almost $200 initially depending on how complex a set up your home is.
