Halifax Clarity Credit Card TIP for Changing Money.
Tip for everyone if you can before you leave the UK
get Halifax Clarity Credit Card.
You get a Perfect Exchange rate for Purchases and cash withdraw from the ATM in Canada.
No fees for Purchases and Only Interest for Cash but no Cash Advance fees.
You can avoid the Interest by paying off the Card at the same time as Withdrawing the Cash.
One Months Interest should still be less than any fees you would pay By Changing Cash.
It is cheaper to withdraw cash from the ATM with this Credit card than it is to change Cash.
If you receive a regular income in the UK then this is one of the best ways to change your Money or pay for your goods. Just pay the Credit card off with your UK Bank account.

By and far the best way is to deposit a cheque from a UK bank into a CAD account in Canada. Using a Canadian CC will give 90 day purchase protection, extended warranty and CDW coverage on vehicle rental.

Neither does the Clarity Card no Premium
Also UK based so can pay directly from UK bank account.
Non-Sterling Transaction fee None
Cash fee None
1GBP = 2.058318 CAD on my card. even for Cash as of 9/18/2015
I get Purchase Protection.
If you have to transfer Cash between banks. then Look at transferwise or CurrencyFair or but you won't get such good rate about 2.039 something. Transferwise Offer Market rate with Flat Fee Under 200GBP it is 1GBP
Anything else will be worse.

I should of said generally everything else will be worse (banks Paypal Weston Union) , if your talking about large Sums of Money (50K plus) then of Course you go to Broker and get the best rates. but your never going get better than the Market rate.

Inter bank rate / Mid-Market rate
At any moment there’s only one exchange rate.(which is changing all the time) Any others are just works of fiction.
