Can't find the answer clearly online... Not sure if any of you know!

We are applying for Baby Schnooks' passport. We are going to be getting 10-day processing as we have a last minute trip coming up on 16-Oct.

We know that to get the faster processing we have to go in person to a passport office. My questions:

1, does Baby have to be there as well?

2, do we have to have all the forms done before with guarantor signature etc, or can we just fill out the info at the office?

Ah, memories! 31 years ago we did this for our youngest son, also in Toronto.

(1) IIRC baby is optional, birth certificate will suffice.

(2) We picked up the forms from the Sheppard & Yonge office, filled them in and took them back the next day. I can't remember whether a guarantor was necessary, after all even we hadn't known the sprig for 2 years.

The good thing about going into the office is that they will let you know if the photo is ok there and then (taking passport pics of new babies is an experience in itself!). One tip they gave me for next time was not to wear light clothing when taking the pic as it can wash out the baby's little bald head and make it too shiny! I think we did need to do the guarantor bit.

Assuming it hasn't changed in the past 5 years: I went with the paperwork, photos etc. for all four of us to the passport office for our first Canadian passports. The others did not come with me, there was no problem.
