As Bats said, try the local Facebook group for Cochrane, AB. Likely there will be a kind soul locally who would pick up and delivery your groceries for you.

Locally here, we have a Facebook-like group called Nextdoor, loads of do-gooders on there offering to pick up groceries for those who can't (I am doing some do-gooding on there myself as an occasional 'expenses only' handyman).

That sounds like you are punishing the store for poor service from instacart.

So for you instacart doesn't conjure up this image then

For the OP and anyone else looking in, an alternative opinion - Instacart has been very, very good here. I don't like that most of the food items are priced higher than the store price but signing up for the monthly membership fee can save an awful lot on delivery fees if you use the service regularly.

IC service will boil down largely the shopper doing it, and the stores stock at the time the shopper is there.

IC has lost a lot of good people either from being booted off, or people giving up because the pay has gone down so much, IC has been cutting the base pay more and more, and people are not tipping enough to make up for it which doesn't help, but it can vary greatly neighborhood to neighborhood as well.

Save on foods don’t deliver to the postcode I supplied which was a bummer. I contacted a few other places and grocerylink don’t serve cochrane and never have they said.

I was certain they did but nope. Never mind though as the airbnb we are renting for the month said that they will help us out and pickup and deliver our groceries to the Airbnb for free. Several hours passed my wife came and helped me up off of the floor after reading the message. Did I mention I also offered money for fuel time they use and they declined 😧😮

thank you all though I really did think I was stuffed. I already can’t wait for the 2 weeks to be over and we’re not there yet 😂😂😂
they should do airport testing.

I have certainly seen that outside the big metropolitan areas, this sort of 'helping people out' is far more widespread than I ever saw in the UK. Pretty common here for someone with a snowblower to just go and clear an neighbour driveway without asking or expecting recompense - I saw that several times last winter and started to do it myself. I even had someone in the drive through line ahead of me at the Timmies pay for my order (didn't know I looked like that much of a charity case!!).

if they are daft enough to use IC...then I will order my groceries from the stores that don’t use them. I am not implying that I will not go into shop said store to shop...but I’m sure you know that...you were just twisting my words.

I love my country.
Was going to say welcome to Canada, but Bats beat me to it.

Not been here long but IMHO Canadians accept crap service far to readily.

May I suggest that you wait until you have been here for longer before making snap judgements.

My experience and opinion is precisely the opposite! I cringe at the poor service now when we go back to the UK for a visit!

I find Canadian service at businesses slightly below what I was used to in the US, service there does tend to be better due to competitive pressures. Canada just has too little competition in a variety of industries so there isn't really a competitive pressure to change.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, but didn't want to say it!
