For some people in the process of thinking about leaving what they call a "sinking ship" for Canada with not much more than a few thousand dollars and no job to go to have a look at this latest BBC article
http://www.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/news/10604117
Sometimes moving just within UK may be all you need to do?
Don't leave UK because you think that the jobs are worse there than here. The national average is around 7.8% unemployment and that factors in lots of jobs Alberta (oil sands) cities but does not show you the unemployment in smaller communities. Yes statistics are manipulated by politicians, and a lot of jobs in Canada are part time.

ok I placed this in the wrong place! how do you delete a thread?
Better to let people do their own research and make their own mistakes without adding nonsense like BBC news to the Canadian forum. Sorry, still new here
At least I gave you all some fun for a Friday night with nothing to do!

As Aviator said, we wouldn't delete the thread.
It's an open forum, so you may get some responses you don't want, but that's just the nature of BE.
It was worth posting, and I'm sure you'll get some 'sensible' responses over the weekend as well as the usual flippant ones.
Thx.
