I am being extremely thick at the moment....
What grade will my children be in?
daughter will be 12 in september and son was 8 this month.
Sorry for the silly question but pregnancy has rotted my brain.

Depends one which province you are heading to. If you are going to Quebec your 12 yr old will be in the first year of high school known here as Secondary 1(of 5) your youngest will be in Gr. 3 elementary school.

Hi Angela,
The BE Wiki article on Canadian Schooling should give you an idea.
Each school jurisdiction has slightly different cut off birth dates for each grade. However, in many Canadian school jurisdictions your daughter would enter grade 7 in September 2007, and your son would enter grade 3.
But it's also true that many Canadian school jurisdictions take a flexible approach to placing expat children. That is, they often do not confine themselves to considering the child's chronological age. They also consider the academic level that the child has reached prior to arriving in Canada. Since the British school system is one year ahead of the Canadian school system, on average, many British children are put ahead by one grade when they arrive in Canada.
This is covered in somewhat more detail in the Wiki article that I mentioned above.
