No worries. Just put her on your GTF list. Canada's very multicultural.

and remember unless you are landing as a pr, you are not landing. it made me so mad that they insisted i wasnt landing, ( what do you call what the plane just did then? ) this time i was careful to say i was emigrating and got told off for that. he said if you are coming here on a twp you are "coming here" you are not "staying here".

... welcome to your new home

BTW my GTF list is still in my folder, unglanced at. when we activate our PR the goods should already be here so essentially its a fully detailed packing list, not a B4...

It's a linguistic throw-back. PR status when I first became one was called "landed immigrant". So even today only permanent immigrants "land".

The plane touched down and as you now know a touchdown is worth 6 points.

To be pedantic they are now known as Permanent Residents. The use of the word Immigrant is very rarely used now maybe somebody thought that the term Immigrant could be construed as offensive or demeaning.

We simply used the packers' inventory. No serial numbers, no detail beyond "box 24: computer equipment. box 31: children's clothes; box 48: CDs and LPs; boxes 52-66: books" sort of thing. Nobody batted an eyelid. Which is probably just as well, since after everything had been packed up and left home we realised that they'd included the contents of the drinks cabinet before we could clear it out...

Sorry to re surface this post but what happens if I ship something that isn't on my goods to follow list, am I simply taxed for that item?

Also what happens if when I land, leave and the return say 1-2 years down the line, and I have a new laptop then that wont match up with serial number etc,

If goods are not on a GTF list then you may have to pay taxes on the item.
CBSA will determine to collect or not. Value is determined on fair market value of the item.

Is it any different if I am a citizen? i.e if my husband and child land with me, then we return to Uk and then make the move to Canada 1-2 years down the line coule I then produce a newer list?

Is there any exception for citizens being out the country for a period of time?

We landed as PR a couple of years ago but are only going to start living in Canada in a couple of months time. We took our GTF list with us but it was never asked for when we cleared immigration and returned home with the list unused.

Our goods will now arrive in Canada ( we hope ) a couple of weeks before we do . Should we do anything to help them pass through customs and/or should we hand over a list when we arrive this time? We have our PR cards so in theory we don't need to speak to immigration this time but we don't want to cause any problem with the goods.
