Re: Goodbye.....

re: losing population I was talking about a very specific phenomenon in NZ, where there are regularly more people emigrating from NZ than immigrating in. This has been an issue ever since I can remember.

As for Van, probably. My ideal would be 6 months here and 6 months there.
I used to really want to live in Europe again but not so much now.

Interesting, but then if you go even bigger picture, we should all worry about not producing enough kids to look after us in our old age.

Who knows, give it another 5-10 years and you may end up being drawn back to NZ for good.

Someone once asked me, if your perspective of living doesn't change, are you really living? Food for thought.

My reading of the Canada forums is that a good many people choose not to retire in Canada because of the weather, including some who have lived in Canada for a great many years. Even Canadians don't want to retire there and turn into "snow birds" and live in America for the winter.

Sure - who wouldn't want to retire to sunnier climes? Older people don't cope as well with colder weather. The "snow birds" make sure they spend enough time in Canada to qualify for provincial healthcare though. It's not like it's a uniquely Canadian thing. Many Brits also retire abroad to places like France and Spain.

Yup, that's what I do. Come the end of October I'm gone, off on my transcontinental trek to my winter place in Arizona until April. It sure works for me. :)

Hello T-pot,
I don't know if this is of any help to you but I read an article in last Fridays Toronto Evening Star (I think) stating that an somebody who's application to emigrate to Canada had won an appeal against the 'out of time' limit imposed by the government. The government was also refused the right to appeal the decision and they had until 14th October to process the application.
Sorry to be so sketchy on the details,, good luck.

Re: Goodbye.....

Apparently, the Immigration Minister has now ordered CIC to continue processing applications, as before. What happens to those who have already had their applications returned, is anybody's guess! And, of course, it does nothing to reduce the backlog of applicants and the lengthy wait-times for a ye or nay!

I think after about a year id have given up and reprocessed as pnp. It took 16w to get our pnp through and twp at the airport and bc is processing pr in 5 months at the moment so well within a year and it's all done.
Maybe worth looking into?
