I'm not sure whether being single or having a family matters. The decision can be a big one however many of you there are intending to go. In our case it was my husband that wanted to go and started the application process over 3 1/2 years ago. In that time I have changed my mind a few times. However when our medical requests came through, it made me take notice and decide do I or don't I. I have made a definate decision that I want to go to now, and am becoming really excited about it. I believe I have come to a time in my life where I want a change and a challenge.
I believe that if it is what you want you should go for it.

hi everyone,
its lovely to hear of all your storied emmigrating as families and couples. My boyfriend doesnt want to come with me though, so i was looking for some positive comments from single girls who have made it over there and can tell me its worth losing a guy over.

He talked me into coming to Vancouver as he loved the life out here so much with all the skiing, sailing and mountaining biking which is what I am into. A few months later we got to together, and it didn't take much for me to persuade him to come with me!
So you never know, you might meet your Mr Right following your dream, but if not you'll have a wicked time doing it alone.
I sometimes wonder how my experience in Vancouver would be different if I was single..........

Hi, Just want to add my two-pence worth. If you don't go because of him you may end up spending your whole life regretting it and blame him.
It does happen. You only have one life, you've got to live it for yourself.
I'm lucky we both want to move to Canada, if he didn't want to then I wouldn't go, I wouldn't even have to think about it. The fact that you are undecided, makes me think "he isn't the one". "He's" probably in Canada waiting for you.

Just thought I'd add my input here.
I am very much going it alone, and have no problem with that!
Will be getting off the plane with no job, limited $$$ and no where to live
But it's all part of the experience, the adventure.
I can't imagine being held back by another person, the damn immigration rules are enough to contend with!

I have looked at jobs non-stop! It's a catch-22 situation.
My experience is only admin stuff (not a career driven person) which is adequate to apply for PR, but not really realistic for getting a work permit. GRRRRRR!
Then there's the study permit option, but the international fees make it impossible.
Hoping to apply for a BUNAC visa to get out there and see what happens. Work that Irish charm

thanks loopylou,
hadnt said to boyf yet i was defo going, hes always known ive wanted to go though. Anyway he found out by accident (reading an email he shouldnt have) that ive actually made plans to get the ball rolling. He's ok about it, says we'll deal with it when we have too.
Im coming over in oct and have to come back in May for exam, so he now says he'll come for that. Previously said he wouldnt even come on holiday with me!
so we'll see.

Before our 1st recce, I was sure it was what I wanted to do but my OH and 4 kids were totally against it
after 2 weeks of visiting various places in NS hubby didn't want to come back to the UK and the kids loved it. It was me who was having doubts
Now 2 years later both me and OH can't wait, 2 kids have said definitely not, 1 is indifferent (she now has a boyfriend) and the other says just tell me when to pack !
So we're going for it, just waiting for OH's LMO

I came over on a fiancee visa (although at the time of landing we had already married). Had wanted to live in Canada for a while, however my my boyfriend at the time was definately one those people who dislike travelling too far abroad.
Well that didn't work out and I met my future husband at a friends wedding in Victoria, and well the rest is history. Have been here 6 years, am a citizien and have contributed to an increase in the population to the effect of 3 boys.
Whilst we are trying to move to the UK to be closer to my family for a while, I certainly don't regret my decision to come over, and if the move does not work out it won't be a complete disappointment either as there is certainly no major dislike of this country.
Good luck
