Getting to Nova Scotia from Manchester
We have always been set on going to Ontario as we have family there....but the move we read on Nova Scotia we are seriously thinking it might be for us. Obviously never having been there we need to visit. Can anyone in NS help me?
It seems that there is no real easy way to get there. Not sure if its just that we are flying out of Manchester??
What route would you reccomend? And if you are in NS do you find it difficult getting away due to cost or the 3 flights you might have to take to get where you're going?
Thanks very much

Winter is not a cheap time to fly direct to NS from the UK, many of the cheaper airlines only start landing at Halifax from May to Nov , we're landing in NS next week and found some really good deals on the day, fly to Toronto with Canadian affair http://www.canadianaffair.com/ , then Westjet https://www.westjet.com/guest/en/home.shtml to Halifax, Its going to take a little longer, but for a family of 5 classed as adults plus we booked into a hotel so we could check out Toronto the next day, we still saved over £1000, Air Canada was £2800 direct oneway, also same price for a return we paid £1600 + hotel all in, for oneway, and with the way the dollar is at the moment...

Have a look at Continental as well - they fly from Manchester to Newark, which as NY airports go, is not too bad, and then it's only about a 90 minute flight from there to Halifax. Their prices tend to be cheaper than Air Canada, but not as good as Canadian Affair, Icelandair if you are flying between May-October

Flights from Halifax have decreased in the 4 years we've been here - during winter months Air Canada no longer have a direct flight to UK every day either, which cuts down the choice even more. It is really expensive to fly from here to other parts of Canada too.

Air Canada fly direct from Heathrow all year round (but not every day in winter as Val said).
Canadian Affair fly direct from Gatwick May to November using Air Transat and Thomas Cook airlines.
Incidentally, it is not always the case that Air Canada are really expensive. If you keep monitoring the prices they do go up and down. Sometimes there is very little difference between the two, especially if you avoid peak season. Also, one way tickets are nearly always as expensive as returns.

We are hoping to move out there soon. We believe you have to fly from Gatwick for a direct flight to Halifax NS ( 5 hour aprox) check out Canadian Affair and Jetaway2canada. You can only get direct flights from May to October
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on
