FUSION Halifax - networking and all that
#1
I saw some blurb for a new social network for the Halifax area which I thought might be useful:
"If you are young(ish) and live in Halifax or are planning to move to the Halifax area sometime in the future, there is new organisation - FUSION Halifax - launching soon that you may be interested in. FUSION Halifax is about meeting new people and networking across all sectors of the community (its not just a “business†network) and generating new ideas in order to make Halifax a better and more exciting place to live. FUSION is primarily for young people but it isn't exclusive – anyone can join."
This might be a good way for new or soon-to-be immigrants to the Halifax area to meet people, make contacts and new friends etc. Given "Networking" is soooo important here, if you are going to be job-hunting or trying to find a place in the community for PNP etc this site may help. It's free to join at www.fusionhalifax.ca so it's just one more internet password to look after and there is also an official launch event on October 25th so if you are in the area on that date this would be a great way to meet people.

(oh, and before anyone asks, No, it's not my website, project or anything else... but yes, I will be registering)

For what its worth I think this is a good idea, especially for folks who are a bit on the shy side. Canadians are generally pretty good at initiating conversation and once they hear the accent the usual questions start and before you know where you are there's a full on conversation going.
I did exactly this on a recent recce via another social networking site I use.
Very handy!

That's why I posted it - there was nothing like this when I moved over and it can be hard at first to meet locals!
