Re: Funds when arriving.
just found this thread - i'd like to check something
i landed in late march - back here for house etc.
but going back late October for the proper move
when i landed i didnt have to show a bank statement showing $10k or £10k
(single no family) but i had one with me
q) when i return am i likely to be asked ?
might be harder this time but achievable and house to follow of course
i have PR card etc.
thanks

Hi
As far as I'm aware the liquid funds are waived if you have a job offer letter to show when you land. You have a year to land and perhaps find a job in the mean time.
Good Luck!

Re: Funds when arriving.
I would imagine that, of all those on this forum that have landed, less than 1% had to show proof of funds at the time of landing. Not that that helps if you are asked to show them, but the chances of having to do so are very small.

Kullymack,
At the moment for a family of 3 it is CAD $16967 (approx £10705), but someone said earlier on in the thread it goes up every year so wait until January I suppose for the new amounts.
I’m actually ‘landing’ in February with my family and to stop us dipping into our savings and settlement funds I’m considering opening a Canadian account now and transferring the majority of the money and topping up every now and then from the UK before we land in February. I have a friend in Canada whose address I could use for the bank account. Would this be advisable & possible.
Thanks

We're doing the same but just using a UK account for now, it'll be no difference just as long you can show the funds IF asked. I would keep the funds here for now, see how the exchange rates change.
We're hoping to 'land' in January, our medicals expire 8th Jan '11, so visas better come in the next couple of months or so. What route and was your timeline?

Re: Funds when arriving.
Hi Angela,
We had our medicals on May 24th and the visas stuck in the passport 6 weeks later - surprised you haven't had the request for passports yet?
We are 'landing' in February and aim to go for good July/august time frame. We are looking at BC and hopefully find a job in Okanagan (vernon, penticton etc)
You?
