Form I-94 return at the US Border

Form I-94 return at the US Border
A little help please.
My family and I drove from Vancouver to Seattle in November 2012 on our British passports. We still have the form I-94 which is due to expire end of next week.
Is it possible to ask a friend going to the border to drop off the forms or do we all need to go there and hand them over? We do not want to go through the hassle of mailing them to the Kentucky office with a list of documentation to show that we left the US after our initial admission.

Get them to drop them off on the Canadian side as we dont care who drops them off we just return them to the US.
