Food differences (i.e. where's the bacon?)

IMO it does not exist in any supermarket. Look for small bakery or make your own.
Getting hold of good un-messed with flour (supermarkets are required by law to sell fortified wheat flour) in Canada can be difficult. Shame because red fife and other Canadian spring wheat's are some of the best for making bread anywhere in the world due to the high gluten content. If you go down this route I suggest getting it directly from the miller. I import mine from Ontario in 20kg bags but its unbleached, whole germ, red spring wheat, makes the best bread ever.

Wonder Bread is pretty close to Mother's Pride and is readily available.

Or just suck it up, you moved to Canada, start buying Canadian and get used to it. Makes life a whole lot easier.

Superstore used to have 'Wiltshire-style bacon', but it seems to have disappeared, at least in our store.

They're not East Indians, they don't come from the East Indies. They're Indians, they come from India.
Indians, Red Indians, aren't supposed to be called that anymore unless you are one in which case it's reclaimed language, like Tottenham fans being Yids to each other.

People from India are now correctly called South-East Asians, or you can call them Sikhs though not all are of that religion
It is wrong to call them Indians, and has been for a long time ..................... before the word Indian for First Nations peoples became a dirty word.
I think it might well be considered as a dirty word to use for the immigrants from overseas as P***i now is in the UK.
If you're living in Canada, surely it would be considerate of you to use the correct names for the peoples, whether immigrant or the original inhabitants?
