We did get to Manning Park for Christmas which was awesome and a weekend in Whistler though. The local ski hills didnt get much snow until after the Olympics so skiing was limited this year

Hope to do a road trip down the west coast of US this summer rather than relying on flights. The news in the UK says the coast of flights are about to rocket due to the ash crisis and the cost of oil so dont fancy wasting money on flights when there is so much we still have not explored and can do be road.

Hope to get our OK fix as well as the weather warms up. How are things in the OK?
I skied at mt Seymour all season - was fab - only a few days of crappy snow

My son wants to go to UK for a catch up with old mates and my wife may also go but i will stay here. We have the business to consider and it is so difficult to justify those flight prices for 4 people.
Looking forward to some more Canadian camping trips and maybe a trip over the border this summer too.
Good the hear things are good in Kelowna. It is still our favorite place and hopefully we will relocate their when circumstances permit.

I had the same issue with cost of flights for a family of 4 to the UK but I did promise the wife we would return periodically to see family and friends. It is a shame it is now so expensive for people in the UK to come out to Canada with the exchange rate and cost of flights.

We were quite shocked with regard to how expensive it is getting in the UK. We have estimated by looking at items we frequently purchased in the UK that many had gone up by at least 50% in the last two years (ignoring exchange rates and price of gas). We know most of our friends had had a pay cut or a pay freeze so it must be tough managing the family budget.

We got up to Cyprus just after the Olympics when they had a massive dump of snow which was great. Unfortunately I was so busy at work with preparation for the Olympics I did not get the time off to enjoy the Olympics or go skiing, hopefully next year will be better. Whistler on the other hand was awesome with the record snowfall this season.

Excellent! And they didn't say anything about booking from Canada - or did you have to give a UK address? Did you use a Cdn credit card?

I booked mine a few weeks ago using a Canadian visa card and there were no issues (and it saved me $350)

My friend booked a flight for the beginning of June (calgary - manchester return) and got it for $640

Unlikely, even first is not that much. BA is around $1100 to $1200 for July in coach, depending on date and seat class available. Comparing Air Transat to BA is like comparing a Skoda to a BMW. I'll only ever fly on a sched, never a charter, I value my comfort too much.

I have flown both and find them all a pretty horrible experience.

Sorry to hear that. I flew BA for a few years and enjoyed each and every flight. The crew were outstanding

I didn't find the staff or service bad, its just the whole experience I can't stand. I can't afford business class unless I use my miles to upgrade.

Thumbs up Re: flights to uk

Thanks all! Just booked today - called Cdn Affair UK office and saved over $300 Cdn pp!! (compared with booking online). Well pleased. They quoted me in $ first, but it's the same as the online quote. So I asked for the price in £ and it works out much cheaper. Used Cdn credit card and Cdn phone and address details, and there was no problem.
