Forgive me for being an old cynic, but it did seem like a bit of self-promotion to me.:)

I've just got a return flight from toronto to heathrow (in May) for $700.

There's a 1 hour wait in Iceland on the way over and I'm taking 2 days layover on the way back.

The key seems to be getting the days where there are direct flights between Iceland your destinations.

eg
my flights are the 7th & 21st/23rd May = $700
flights on the 6th (via chicago) & 21st/23rd May = $2300

Blue skies and sunny in Halifax too! We are all in short sleeves, have been out to play by the water's edge at the Dingle and had ice creams! The dog even attempted to paddle with the ducks.................. Warmer here than Bristol, where we used to live and our families are.........we keep an eye on their weather too so we can point out the similarities :thumbsup:
