I cannot believe how expensive it is! How will I ever have enough money to eat all the M&S/Waitrose food I need if the flights cost so much?! |
Re: Flights to the UK...

Re: Flights to the UK...
You will be struggling to get a good deal in July. Early July is better than mid to late July, but still around $900 return.

Re: Flights to the UK...
Try Fly Globespan, although i don't think they're very popular on here at the moment.
We looked at July but it was too expensive (theres 5 of us) going early June now and quite a bit cheaper. I know that doesn't help if you have a special event to go to in July, but if you haven't then it's always worth looking at other dates. hth http://www.flyglobespan.ca/index.asp |

Re: Flights to the UK...
The timing is bad flights come down a lot after August. Around $500 Sept/Oct.
I went back on my own for 3 months (Jan-March) last year to sell a house. It had been on the market for 2 1/2 years with 4 agents and none of them payed it any attention, because we were out of the country. It was walk in condition all new everything and in a good location. I sold it on my own and had the money in the bank within 8 weeks. This did not make up for the 3 months I lost with my 5 year old, back in Nova Scotia. I hated every minute! :( |

Re: Flights to the UK...
We are going in July as kid's friends will be off school at that time.
The cheapest I could find is Zoom, if you use the discount code, but it's still costing us Ca$2207 for the two of us from Calgary! (edit: we forked out the little extra to select/reserve seats......) |

Icelandair also fly from Halifax to London via Iceland. Again, depending on when you travel, cheaper fares. |
Re: Flights to the UK...

Re: Flights to the UK...
Sorry I don't have the code for Zoom to hand, but if you bring up Muchmor Magazine, they have the quote inside their mag (I believe it is 20%) but I believe you have to book by the end of April,
Hope this helps. |

Re: Flights to the UK...
The sites that I generally try when looking for flights are
www.flyzoom.com www.iglucanada.com www.airtransat.com www.thomascook.com www.canadianaffair.com www.opodo.com Some of these are the same plane but the price will often, but not always, vary from site to site. It is worth checking them all a couple of times a week for 2 or 3 weeks to see if the price trend is up or down then book when you think you have a good price. Not an exact science I admit, but it has worked well for me in the past. Incidentally, I have tried to use discount codes on many occasions but have never managed to get one to work. Am I doing something wrong, or just unlucky? |

With Zoom you have to put the code in on the front page, before you even start searching for flights. It's a bit confusing. You don't get told the discount until the final pricing at the end.

The key seems to be getting the days where there are direct flights between Iceland your destinations. eg my flights are the 7th & 21st/23rd May = $700 flights on the 6th (via chicago) & 21st/23rd May = $2300 |
Re: Flights to the UK...
Email from Zoom today offering £50 return off - if booked before April 15th
Double figures again today, blue skies and sunny on the North Shore of NS.............................and even 13C in Halifax. Promocode is "springsavings2008" No, I don't get commission. |
Re: Flights to the UK...
Blue skies and sunny in Halifax too! We are all in short sleeves, have been out to play by the water's edge at the Dingle and had ice creams! The dog even attempted to paddle with the ducks.................. Warmer here than Bristol, where we used to live and our families are.........we keep an eye on their weather too so we can point out the similarities :thumbsup:
