I knew that too, but what I didn't know was no parking on the other side of the road thingy. Shame too, as that's the only side I can parallel park on

We've got one on our front lawn and we live across the street from the community hall with three or for soccer fields so lots of cars parked all over.

Most nights there are games, there is usually one car parked right in front of the hydrant. Don't think I've ever seen anyone ticketed for it in the twenty years we've lived here.

Move to Ontario - we can park within 3m of a hydrant!

But honestly - who remembers all these different rules? In ON, you'll get fined for parking
  • within 3m of a hydrant
  • within 100m of a bridge
  • within six metres of a public entrance to a hotel, theatre or public hall when it is open to the public
  • within 9m of an intersection
  • or within 15m if the intersection is controlled by lights (ooooops - got stung by that one once...)
  • within 15m of a level railway crossing

I'm so happy I don't have a car - it drastically reduces my chances for parking tickets!

I've got one on my front lawn. I think I'm obliged to dig it out in Winter but I'm not sure. I do it anyway.

Just make sure you park 100m from anything and you only have to remember one thing

You would think they could have little signs or marks on the road to indicate the edge of the allowed parking. I mean seriously, do they expect everyone to go round with a 100m tape measure to check their distances? If they say "it's just a guideline" then what about people who park 6 inches too close and get a ticket? I don't think I could judge a 6 inch error over the space of 3 metres personally.

Tom...

I'm also not sure on that responsibility either. I'm sure if it was needed they would appreciate your hard work though.

Thankfully we've never had enough snow to actually come anywhere close to burying ours.

I can relate to that. We live next to a path (between my place and the neighbour). Apparently its okay to let your dog go there. In the spring when the snow melts, theres piles everywhere. I'm tempted to collect it and follow the dog home and...

Of course that would take too much effort.

When i first started work the girl i worked with looked out the window and laughed and said ' look some idiot has parked the wrong way in the street, they will get a ticket.' Yep that idiot was me

Well i knew about the fire hydrant thing but not parking the wrong way in the street! oh well live and learn.

Saw the man with the chalk one day marking wheels and had a bit of a mild panic and asked same work colleague what the hell was he doing. As from where i was standing it just looked like one of those things the army use to check for bombs under your car She did laugh at me.

As with regards to parking i personally wonder what the hell most canadians are thinking!:curse: parking right in front of road crossings, and im talking huge lorries, buses as well! at T junctions cars parked opposite, i could go on and on. It drives me frickin nuts :curse:
