Default Financial Planner Recommendations, GTA?

As you all know, I'm still a young man at heart, but the clock is ticking nonetheless.

As I try to sort out the details of our retirement I have come to realize that a bit of advice would be appreciated.

It's complicated or I could do it myself.

Can anyone in the GTA recommend an PFP who would have knowledge of dealing with multiple tax/health care/investment options and international income streams in Canada, France, UK and Germany?

thought not.

You could ask your bank manager who they would recommend. The chartered banks usually have individuals with their investment divisions that look after financial planning. May want to consult with an accountant as well with regards to your foreign income and the tax implications.

My bank manager suggested I need an expert PFP, but had no specific suggestions. Tax implications are the easy part.

Thanks anyway.

I can't help with a recommendation but a CFP (certified financial planner) designation is a good start and should ensure the person has a minimum standard of education and ability.

If you find someone with a professional accounting, as well as a CFP, designation then you will be dealing with someone who should not make secret commissions from any products they recommend.

That's what you think. A cock-up on an "easy" part of last year's return (form T1135) has just landed me a $2k penalty.

Thanks Jon. Would most people like this be competent to deal with the multiple jurisdictions I mentioned?

You might want to consider getting in touch with this outfit. I imagine that its membership will include people who can do what you need.

Excellent. I'll look into that a bit later on.
