Re: Exchange rate
Hi
Spoke to a guy the other day he got about $5 for £1 , but it was around about the 1960's.... Maybe the if the canadian budget is bad the dollar will go down. Cheers jerry |
Re: Exchange rate
Unfortunatly most of the budget numbers have been factored in as there where leaked a few days ago however if the US GDP is down more than expected we could so a bit of a recovery? I am personaly pinning my hopes on the trading partners placing a bit of weight on the UK to support the GBP because at the moment I am under no doubt that the UK are deliberatly talking the pound down to take benifit on exports.

Re: Exchange rate
after my house being on the market for over a year we sell and now i have left my money with my solicitor cos the exchange rate is so bad right now..but she will only hold it for a couple of months..so keeping everything crossed..im not worried about get $2 to the pound..1.8 something would be really good (dont want to be greedy)..but $2 would be an absolute bonus..but 1.69 it can stay in the UK for now:curse:

Yeah - I expect GB to under pressure to do something about this. Not sure what he can do tho given the current talk of 'quantitative easing' (aka printing) which isn't exactly confidence inspiring even if they have no intention of doing it in reality.
"However, early editions of Monday's Guardian said short-term help is likely for the stricken car industry, while Darling is prepared to use his second budget to improve infrastructure and boost sectors such as environmental technology, pharmaceuticals, and the creative industries." Surprise surprise darling hammers the £ then pushes money onto industry that can take advantage of it. The guy is all about the short game he sickens me. |

OK, but does this mean we will see the stirling rate improve in short and medium terms? I'm taking my kids out, so the legacy wont be theirs.

Yep, wonder if this has anything to do with Soros saying that GBP has bottomed out.
