The other plus is once they've agreed to buy they can get a mortgage very quickly using their other houses as collateral.

I had a go, lost a bit of money, had another go recently and whilst I understand what to do, I've decided not to continue.
It's not something you should try unless you really understand what you are doing with money - depends on the particular spreadbet, but it can be quite quick so you have to be decisive and know when to quit.

On the subject of Alan Carr, I notice that the press today is reporting his death from lung cancer. I wonder why the delay? When I was in the UK at the end of October I went for a medical. Carr came up in conversation. The doctor indicated to me that Carr had died of lung cancer.

Re: Exchange rate
Re the exchange rate - we budgeted our wedding and honeymoon out at the start of 2005 ( 11 nights in Banff Springs Hotel, 8 night in Toronto Royal York, the wedding at BSH, trips all planned, car hire, internal transfers, Banff National Park passes, everything) and by the time we went in December the exchange rate had changed so much to our detriment that we ended up paying around 40% more than we originally budgeted for!
It's gone back the other way again now - I think it was around $1:96 per £ when we were out there.
