ex-RAF instructor/workshop technician jobs
Hi there,
I'm looking into moving to Canada after 22yrs in the RAF.
I am a qualified lecturer, welder, machinist, metalworker, pipe bender amongst other management/supervisory roles.
I'd love to move to Toronto and I don't mind working away.
Does anyone have any advice, websites, info etc.
The web has lots of similar sites, I'm after real answers from experienced people.
Cheers
Craig

Hi, welcome to BE.
I guess that the essential website is the CIC one (Citizenship and Immigration Canada | Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada), as without a visa there's not much point in looking at any others! And of course, BE is an essential resource....but then I would say that.
There's loads of good advice and info to be found on here, but you might need to be a bit more specific about what you need advice about. A search will throw up loads of useful threads though.
Good luck with it.

Cheers. Obviously new to this stuff. Thanks for the advice. Got 2 years to prepare so thought I'd start sooner rather than later.

Craig,
If you need any insider contacts look up IMP aerospace in Halifax, there are a lot of ex RAF working there. Somebody there maybe able to assist you.
I am soon to be ex RAF and moving over next year, however I have managed to live there on and off and have my citizenship.

The metalworking business is not too rosy these days. My stepson is a Quebec-qualified machinist (a specialist in pipe bending, ironically). A couple of years ago he could get instant job offers just by showing up at a shop with his CV in hand. He says it's not like that any more. Job adverts get shed-loads of applications.
He's actually baled out of machining and gone into electroplating. I'm still not sure what he actually does but I think it involves the company taking the kit to the client site and not the other way round.

Cheers pal, I'll do my research thanks for the advice
Getting your qualifications recognised here could be an issue.
