The eternal question...
$70,000 pa, mortgage of $50,000 over 20 years, family of two adults and one 8 year old. Don't spend huge amounts on luxuries but don't sit huddled around a candle at home either .
A resonably comfortable lifestyle in say London Ontario ?

With an average household income of $50,000, and running costs averaging half that without mortgage ..... I think so. And I thought you were in finance.
Sitting in London Hilton, Ont as I type watching the snow blowing.
(Just bought a house) (waiting for PPR)

Re: The eternal question...
I'd think that'd work. After a year or so you might be able to switch the mortgage to bi-weekly payments so as to pay it off in time for the eight year old to go to university and land you with a new wodge of debt.

Great news Paul!
Sounds really positive. Friends of ours waited ages for his employers to comfirm the nitty gritty like pay and conditions. They were beginning to think it was all off. Next thing they know it's Welcome aboard! like there had never been any question about it!
Maybe it's a canadian thing!

Just be clear in your mind what you will settle for and stick to it. If they want to hire you, you are in the drivers seat, they dont want to spend a long time going through all this again either...just be realistic though and dont ask for the moon if you know there is probably someone else in the wings as a second choice, but remember they will probably be more flexible before they hire you over things like vacation and moving expenses than they will after they own you!
