END OF THE WORLD ON WEDNESDAY...?

Couldn't sleep last night so switched TalkSport on around 4.30am. They were on about the 'end of the world' or something. Now I've just read about it in the paper (that subatomic particle accelerator thingy in Switzerland) and am wondering if the next biggest hurdle to hit our emigration dreams is, in fact, a lack of country to emigrate to, if indeed the whole world disappears down a black hole on Wednesday??

We've had 9/11 - is this 9/10...?

Something to ponder on whilst you're eating your dinner :sneaky:

Excellent news. I had a couple of deadlines at work at the end of this week, but screw that, I'm off golfing now its not going to be a problem;)

I don't think I would do anything differently (aside from being able to fly out to the UK to see the kids but if anyone thinks an airline pilot will be working 2 days before world end then think again!!!!!) than what I already have planned.

I love my job my friends and my life here - can't think of a better way to spend the last couple of days other than being happy.

<comes off cloud 9 into the real world and goes out to spend spend spend on c/c, rob a bank, get lots of diamonds and drink til I fall unconcious>

this would only give the canadians 2 days to go out and buy plastic boxes for the garage, organize the re-cycling, and collect the leaves in orange bags ; a tall order

So about 9:30 am local then? (what time is that EST?) No point wasting your time planning things out in detail beyond the end of the world I imagine...

6 hrs ahead in CERN so for us it's about 3.30am

But the 1OTeV high energy beam colisions won't be for several days/weeks yet, and maybe not until the new year before getting to 14TeV

So I'm not bothering to get up for a proton beam trial even if it is for the LHC

Itinerary for day 1

https://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.c...up/day-one.htm

Not that interesting...... unless beam threading and magnet alignment is your thing...

I accept that technically this is huge, and a great deal of effort to get this far, but just running the beams is just the 1st step
nothing exciting happens yet......

If this was formula 1, they’d just be turning the new engine over to see that it turns and fires, nobodies pushing the throttle down yet..:D

You wouldn't need one if you followed Ms. Perry's example.

I love the randomness of questions like this - its like the "what would you do if you won the lottery type" question.

What would be the thing that is within reason you would do if it were true?

In all honesty spend a day with as many friends as I could then take a horse out onto the prairies and just keep going til it all ended I think (Along with Ultravox's "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" on repeat as the soundtrack)
