Anyone else run into this phrase?


I thought it was hilarously appropriate...once it was explained to me.

Is this just a canadian thing, or is it even more local than that?

What does it mean?

Yes who are these mythical beasts? Are they related to oompa loompa's?

Could more appropriately be "Escalator People"

I'm still at a loss, sounds like high jink in an elevator

My boss said to me theres just a bunch of (f'ing) elevator people out there (pointing towards shop floor where the real work is done)

I looked blankly.

She said, did you never see that commercial where there are a bunch of people on the escalator and it stops moving....and none of them have the sense to just climb the stairs....

So now all the numpties who cant think for themselves are branded "elevators"...

Maybe it's some sort of reference to folks who look for an easy ride to the top??

....but then escalators and elevators go down too!

Never using a canadian elevator again.

I normally try to avoid both, for no good reason except they make me feel vaguely uneasy.

My kids laugh at me on escalators ... and in elevators, I have a strange complusion to flatten myself against the side or back...... something to do with "The Omen" I think ?? :scared:

i once met a old guy in toronto whose job it was to sit the elevator all day and press the buttons for people. He had a big chair and a tv in there.(and for some reason a kettle, even though there appeared to be no electrical socket?!). He's due to retire soon, i'll make sure they know your interested.

Are you sure she's talking about the same thing?

Yeah she's German.
