Default Education NB / NS

Hi all, could anyone tell me what the school system is like in NB / NS, I have read about the various grades but generally is it a good system & what qualifications do children obtain at the end of school? Also is there a good mix of academic learning with sports, art, woodwork, technology etc? Do both English & French have the same level of importance? How much home study (home work) is there?

Are there out of school clubs, either via school or private? This may sound a strange question but do children have sleep overs, birthday parties etc (not just within their family), are new comers welcomed? Just trying to find out what the child culture is like!

One of our biggest reasons for looking to move to Canada is that we want our son to have a good childhood, a good balanced education (not entirely based on academics), be able to integrate & make friends etc. He is not of school age as yet, so will start school from the beginning, which I'd imagine will help!

Also if we lived semi-rural, what are small town schools like?

Any information would be greatly appreciated .
