renewed my UK passport about 5 yrs ago, they even wanted copies of the blank pages of my canadian passport

The United Kingdom doesn’t require a change of name after marriage, and in fact you can change your name to anything when you get married. Even creating a totally new surname.

My wife is currently in the UK. She renewed her UK passport but had to supply photocopies of her Canadian passport for the application to proceed. Her details matched on both passports.
