Re: Driving test in Nova Scotia

Hi all

Just a quick question about driving in Halifax, and my apologies if this is a dumb question. Do you need to pass a test & gain a NS driving licence in order to drive in NS at all? I had read somewhere that you can drive for up to 90 days on a full UK driving licence before having to take a test? Is this true?

You can indeed drive for up to 90 days on a full UK driver's licence. Here is the link to the NS Driver's Handbook :)

Hi have been having a go at the written test on line and every time i get 16/20. I keep getting four wrong no matter what i try.

I think i am going to have to do some more studying. I passed my UK one first time going back 17 years ago, and some of the road signs for NS are unknown to me...

Then perhaps it's just as well that you have to take a test before you are let loose on the highway. Colin just aced it a couple of days ago. Maybe he could give you some tips. Good luck anyway and keep studying.

The online test is helpful, but dont rely on this alone, as the written test is based on the NS drivers handbook.
Study both and you'll be fine:thumbsup:

Good luck

If the driving is anything like what we did took less than 10 mins and was a doodle

Agree with you there. The hardest part was the written test.

The driving part only took us about 10 minutes. Only had to reverse park when back at the test centre, otherwise, it was straight ahead, left and right. :)
