Hi, I hope to land in Van in 6-8 weeks . Re the 90 day driving licence rule : I will be travelling around BC and sometimes Alberta as part of my job ....now what if I were to bring my UK drivers licence with me on a trip to Alberta before the 90 days is up and exchange it for an Alberta Drivers Licence . Then use the Alberta Licence in future . Apparently you can just walk in and exchange the UK licence for the Alberta one ..... or would I need an address in Alberta ?

To get an Alberta licence you have to show proof that you live in Alberta, so yes you would need an Alberta address.
Why is it that people are so damned scared of taking a driving test?

IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL.

If you plan on living in B.C. then you will need a B.C. drivers licence NOT an Alberta one.

There is no dodge. If you're coming to BC then you have to take the test, simple as that!

I was going to finish my original post by saying that I am NOT one of these people that is always looking for an easy way out ( oooh I hate people like that ). Just something that crossed my mind .... I am actually getting a company car on arrival in Van and it wouldnt be v nice to fail the test and have to hand the car back !

Driving in BC as a resident for any extended period of time with an Alberta license is likely to be a far bigger deal. You might want to check how your employer would feel about this and also find out if your insurance would cover you. Having a ding then finding you are not covered would be too risky for me.
