Could be, I still do a lot of pre65 British style trials riding on private ground so not all is lost

Yeah I've been through these hoops as well, except I moved here 5 years ago and have subsequently passed my test.
For a Canadian to transit M2 to full M they have to wait I think 2 years, UK experience shortens that qualification period. Effectively I took mine after a year. No real issues riding on an M2 (zero blood alcohol is the only restriction I noted; it's the M1 where you can't ride at night or on the 400s). There is an upper limit for the M2 which is I think 5 years, so you have to take your test in that timespan.
Its straightforward if a pain in the butt to retake your test. The only caveat is for your written M1 test there's some questions about the graduated CAR licenses here which, having been handed yours, you won't know about. You you ned to brush up on how many passengers you can drive in a car on a G2 etc.
Now, if we can rant about British engineering qualifications not being recognised despite there being an international treaty in place...
This is wrong, the motorcycle license is not transferable in Ontario.
