Default Driver's Licence in Alberta

So, I arrive in May on a TWP to start work. I'll be returning back to blighty to settle affairs and return with family in september.
If I have 90 days to exchange licence, is that from first arrival?
What happens to my UK licence, is it still valid in UK? I'll still need it back home.
Thanks

Why do you need a UK license back home? A Provincial driver's license is OK for driving in the UK.

We had to surrender our UK licences when we applied for the Alberta licence. Apparently you can't have both at the same time. We were advised if we returned to the UK, we would have to apply for a new UK licence and surrender the Alberta one there.
You can drive in Alberta on your UK licence for - I think - 3 months.

I did this a few days ago, and they give you a photocopy of both parts of your uk license, if that is of any help to you at all. How long you heading back to the uk for?

A photocopy is fine...but is it still valid?
I may be home for 4 to 6 weeks and what I guess I'm asking is if I'm still legally entitled to drive in Uk even if I've surrendered my licence in Alberta? I'll still have a car and need to use it.
I thought about exchanging it when I finally settle but that'll be outside the 90 days since I first entered on a WP.

I would just chance, it. If stopped in the UK, say you've lost your license, and ordered a new one - you will still have a copy to show them...
Can't see that being a big issue.

What's to chance? He'll be a Canadian resident driving on an Albertan licence, which is perfectly legal as a visitor to the UK. He's not entitled to use a UK licence as he's not resident there any longer.

I thought you could use a UK licence for a year if on a TWP in Alberta,I had planned to swap over sooner rather than later though myself.
