Is the dream real?

Some very good point made here! My attitude is that I just happen to be moving to a different lump of rock - same old troubles, just a different location!
The only Canadian dreams I have are about John Paul Tremblay in a hot tub full of rum and coke, but I guess that's some whole other thing....

That did seem an improbable fantasy, but it was what google made of "Jean Paul Tremblay".

Thanks again to everyone - we do have a positive, flexible outlook and hope that this, along with any research, will help us to build a life in Canada.
Thank you everyone who commented on my post - you know me; I just say it as I see it. Canada is being good to us - Canadians are being good to us - and I hope that we are giving a little something back in return.

Perhaps. Then you must make certain that you find the right place because there are "wrong" areas in Canada too! .
Take a peek at Canadian politics - honestly Canada's politics are not much better and in my opinion some things are far worse here.

Sorry Flashman, I perhaps didn't write my comments clearly; of course I mean't what is the right place to live, for the individual; in answer to the poster who said that he felt he was living in the wrong area in the UK.
