We have inhaled the contents of a jar of the Devonshire cream and one of Clotted cream this evening purely for the benefit of BE. They were delicious. Available at IGA supermarket in Coquitlam. $6 a jar Perfect for the Christmas pudding!!

Feeling a bit smug, living in the land of double cream and all...this thread has made me think I should in fact be partaking. Problem is, what to use it on, given that strawberry season is five months away, and I'm not a fan of Xmas pud. Any suggestion of a mid-winter foodstuff that is need of some generous dollops of double cream?

I'm still not really used to paying for blackberries that I previously picked along the Bristol-Bath cycle track and other places for free.
But they are so plump and juicy, it's worth it.

I have a lovely one here from NS. It's so nice it makes up for not having the smaller ones from M&S. But I miss their xmas cake.

Mince pie is not a bad idea. I'm not big on them, but we have a few left over that could be made more tempting with some DC. Good call.

I'll never understand the double cream thing, but it's refreshing to see the post every few months.....
Is mince the same as ground meat? Or is it specifically something different?

However, the mince pies at Christmas refer to miniature pies filled with an aged fruit (currants, berries, etched) and spice mixture.
Double cream you will understand when you arrive at heaven.

Who brings the scones and jam? Does the devil warm the scones over a flame ready for distribution?

Mince pies were traditionally made from meat and dried fruits but as people got wealthier and dried fruits cheaper, the meats were slowly left out. A good mince pie filling still had suet in it.
