And don't get me started on word pronunciations; oregano, basil, risotto, tomato, depot, vase, buoy. Takes some getting used to.
You know you just don't live in a different country, you live on a different continent. You need to get your head straight. It's neither right nor wrong that many words are pronounced differently or that many words have been substituted for the same items in the UK. Get used to it, there are approximately 400 million people speak using/pronouncing words this way.

I get that America would use the Italian or spanish versions intead of the French, but in a country with French as an official language you would expect courgettes not zucchini.
The Americanisation of Canada. Next they will be pronouncing boat and house the American way.

Much better than the Anglicization of Canada. With that we'd all be saying things like "i loove me chip buttie" among many other unintelligible dialects purporting to resemble the Queen's English.

I quite like poached eggs. You have to add a touch of vinegar in the water and then swoosh the water around to create a sort of whirlpool. That way the clear bit of the egg stays wrapped around the middle bit.

You need fresh eggs for the white to stay together. I never use vinegar. When the eggs are older then use them for hard boiled, then you will be able to peel them easily.

Yes, that one!
I've personally tried to educate so many Canadian's how to properly pronounce "mirror". It usually goes like this:
Me: "Say Mirror"
Canadian: "mrhhhhh"
Me: " Mirror"
Canadian: "mrhhhhh"
Me: "mih"
Canadian: "mih"
Me: "roar"
Canadian: "roar"
Me: "Mirror"
Canadian: "mrrrrhhhhhh"
Me: "Mih-ror"
Canadian: "mrrrr-h"
Me: "You're not trying"
Canadian: "Go eat a bowl of dick you wanker."
