Re: different words used??
I've heard people order 'over well' which must be somewhere in the middle.
I'm not sure how to order what I suppose is a "british style" fried egg. i.e. not flipped, but hot oil is spooned over the top to cook them. Maybe it's not possible to get that here because they aren't cooked in frying pans. Still, it's the nicest way to fry an egg; over-easy is close, but it's not quite the same.

And a pram is a stroller!
Once told someone to wait for me by the stroller whilst in England, they kept looking around for a hooker!!

Re: different words used??
My experience was reversed. When I moved to the UK (Northern Ireland) from Canada, I had trouble coming to terms with the word differences.
Me (female) to male coworker: "Can I get a ride this afternoon?" (I should have been asking for a lift home!) This went on for a few more times, and still got those silly "questionable" looks until someone finally explained it to me.
And then there's the wonderful time I made comment, at the lunch table at work: "I always get the shaft" wanting to express that because I was good at one particular job (which I came to hate) I always got stuck doing it. Someone then asked me, do you know what you just said?
Now, living back in Canada since 2008, I still have to think about "do we use that word/phrase here or is that from over there?"
