So reading the above post I have to share my story - I have discovered Kijiji and have been using it to advertise that I am seeking employment. I've recieved many replies - some of which I think are spam but some seem decent and legitimate.
However, one replier asked for my resume - so I sent it while asking what company they worked for. They then replied telling me to look up a certain club.. it was a SEX CLUB! I promptly replied saying thanks but no thanks. I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted that they thought (based on my info and picture) that I could be a potential candidate for a 'hostess'
Anyway - moral of the story is kijiji is great for finding work but there needs to be some sort of filter haha.
And in a more general sense - I have had a few interviews here and I find that my temporary work permit is a major inhibiting factor in landing a job - having been told by an employer myself, no one will want to spend time training someone who will eventually leave... so now I just lie and say I am working towards permanent residency...

OK I for one
think that Louise is not trolling, but has a short attention span.
Louise, there is a search function in the top right hand corner, you can look at that. But basically you can't be sure I guess, and experiences will depend on luck, profession, economy, age, personality etc etc

You're welcome but I'd also point out that the forumites were extremely helpful to you in the beginning (more so than me actually
) but you also have to do your own steps. Good luck.

I don't know if it's still the case but, yes, for a long time it was possible to get work permits for "adult entertainers". We looked at that as an option when we wanted to import some computer guy and it looked as if doing so would mean having to explain technology to the government.

There can be some extremely sarcastic and subsequently insensitive comments made on here. Many I suspect aren’t meant to be malicious rather they’re products of feeble attempts at humour. It’s the frustrated class-clown syndrome, you see. That said, to answer your enquiry, finding employment is dependent on many variables. Some people have walked straight into a job, while others have been left flailing in the capricious Canadian job market. The secret is to be flexible, very flexible and be willing take risks and consider different opportunities. With your experience, have you considered the adult entertainment business?
