Maybe the water? Sometimes when moving to a new place something as simple as different water can upset the stomach for a few weeks.

I know its happened to me a couple times.

When I had a colonoscopy last year in BC, the wait was about 4 months in total, 2 to get into the specialist, and then 2 more months after that.

It is not so uncommon as you may think. I believe that the wheat in Canada has been so genetically modified that it is no longer "wheat" and if you read all the labels of food here, there are so many chemicals involved not to mention corn syrup (also genetically modified) that you need to be a scientist to understand them. My OH after about 5 years living here with tummy trouble ending in a terrible bleed one night and had to be rushed to hospital. After a colonoscopy he was diagnosed with diverticular disease. On another note we fart a lot here and when back home we do not so go figure! We have changed to organic bread from "The running room" which helps a bit but now he suffers from GERD and lives on anti acid tablets.

I don't believe that wheat is genetically modified in Canada yet.

I think it more likely that it is the 'hidden' sugars and sweeteners that may be causing stomach troubles. Interesting website with information on the 5 ingredients to look for can be found here.

The attachment is quite helpful. For those that prefer not to download pdf files, I also attach a snapshot.

Perhaps not all genetically modified but certainly the wheat in the Prairies have been hybridized to the extent that they are no longer the ancient grains we once had. Someone mentioned water, I have had thoughts about water as well as it is run off into lakes from ancient glaciers and other rivers where who knows what logging and mining have deposited into those rivers! Just my thoughts as I said an not a scientific observations. We still drink tap water anyway, because its cheaper and less plastic will find its way into the landfill.

I do agree with sugars and other chemicals in food.

On another note I was talking to a neighbour about the amount of ants we have suddenly appearing in walls of house and she suggested we pour sugar free pop around the outside walls and down ant holes because she was told that asparthame kills the ants. She tried it and said it worked! Wow, imagine what that does to you!

I had some issues when we moved to a different area so visited the doctor who very helpfully described the water companies ancient pipework and the possible additions to our water supply

Who is we? Wheat and all other grains have been hybridized and modified endlessly since "ancient" times. Have a read of "Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond and come back when you finish.

Ok tried coming back to the Canada thread for a while but maybe not a good idea. Sorry not reading that book at moment not that it is not worth a read as I can't afford to buy books at moment but word "we" was used too generally as white settlers in Canada, sorry if it offended you! Cheers!!! guess I won't be posting on here again!

Interesting what they put in carbonated low cal soft drinks - they don't just make you fat (or hit your pocket) - http://www.bartek.ca/pdfs/Applicatio...0of%20Name.pdf

Funnily enough Robinsons, Britvik, Lucazade, Asda, Tesco and Tango "low cal" drinks all contain aspartame.

Some interesting reading on that website as to what is in food and drink.

http://www.bartek.ca/app_beverages_carbonated.html

Using 'aspartame for killing ants' is an urban myth.

The best stuff to get rid of them is Diatomaceous Earth

No problems with the food here, although I did bring a much unwanted 'Grape of Wrath' with me which I just can't seem to shake.

I stopped buying anything with Aspartame in it as soon once I found out just how dodgy that crap is:

There are loads of sites with info on it on the net.

Lactose intolerance is another possibility (usually happens after meals; starts with bloated feeling). Try avoiding dairy products (including cheese) for a while. Note that *many* processed foods contain whey and other milk solids.
