Default Deciphering CAIPS file - can anyone help ?

Hi,

We've just received our CAIPS file and we need a bit of help deciphering the various codes & working out where exactly we are in the process.

1) Our application was received on 1st October 2001 and the only decision status on it is 'PSDEC 1 23-01-2002' - any ideas ?

2) The conclusion says 'Electronic NOC not available at this time - used BROAD 2162' and 'REC Waiver' - ???

3) The points total comes to 73 and we have a priority of 7 - what does this mean ?

4) The BF'D date is 30-3-2002.

Any help would be most gratefully received.

Ian,

Could you please tell me how you make a request for CAIPS file on your case. I am
currently sponsor a family member and would like to know how far alone the case has
progressed overseas in the consulate.

Thanks

There are no priorities under the current regulations , ignore this.

The file will come to the attention of an officer on that date. BF= bring forward

The trouble with CAIPS notes is they are kinda non standard and open to
interpretation. Kinda like trying to understand whoever wrote it's own abbreviation
style. i think the true help is if it said something like "Docs missing" or something
then youd know there was a problem if you didnt already and could get on the case.

not sure. at a guess maybe dec is short for decision? so maybe some form of decision
was made then. PS = Pink Slip ? are you applying to London?

hrm. id guess the first bit is a personal note saying he couldn't access and
electronic NOC copy so used some old paper version. not much help there. and REC
waiver would indicate to me a suggestion that whoever wrote that note thought you
should recieve an interview waiver. but again all you can do is guess. what feedback
have you got yet?

no idea. who knows what systems tehy use internally to prioritise.

This i think is the 'bring forward date' which is i believe the suggested time it
should be brought forward for review again. some people who applied to london in
november have been somewhat distressed by seeing bring forward dates in 2003 on their
CAIPS notes. yours seems to suggest it should be reviewed again on 30th march. have
you done medicals etc yet? maybe its saying they should review it on 30th, take on
board the NOC and waiver referance and send you out a pink card and medical papers?
or did they do that already and they are saying bring forward for review after
medicals recieved?

its all a bit subjective really. and now you have to wonder wether you are any the
wiser for reading them or if you are jsut more confused. hehe

We haven't received anything from them since our AOR in November, so no medicals or anything yet.

hi

you can obtain a copy of your CAIPS notes under the Freedom of Information Act of Canada. It costs C$ 5 only and takes a about a month to get it. the tricky part is that someone in canada has to request it on your behalf from the ottawa office.

Exactly where do I ask for the information? Is there a phone number I can call for
the request forms.

Thanks

Richard

Yes. Keep in mind only Permanent Residents/Canadian citizens can access public files
under the Freedom of Information Act of Canada.

here is the contact info for the office to request your CAIPS notes;

Public Rights Administration
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Narono Building
360 Laurier Ave., 10th Floor, Section D
Ottawa, Canada K1A 1L1

Tel: (613) 946-0953
fax: (613) 957-6517

This is not a call center number, so you might have some difficulty speaking with somebody. Also keep in mind, the request can be made ONLY by a Canadian Citizen/ Perm Resident as someone earlier pointed out.

Good luck
