thanks hun. the worst thing is if i get on a plane and he is gone before i get there.
im 90% certain im gonna go. as for the cash, pah its only money - as long as we can afford to sort out the new TWPs while waiting for the PR so we can legally stay here we can make the rest up. and the credit card can just wait its a UK one anyway so wont effect my fledgling canadian credit rating. just means shipping our goods will have to wait another couple of months... havent seen it all since june 2012 so i guess another months or three wont make that much diff.

My sympathies TJ. We have had to make 3 similar trips back to the UK. It's the call most expats know we will have sooner or later...but it doesn't prepare us when it comes.

sadly i didnt get there in time. he passed away tonight, and i fly tomorrow. hoping that we can arrange the funeral for before i have to come home. but they are insisting on a post mortem given his head injury.
im devastated that i didnt get there in time, but he isnt in pain any more and knew i loved him before he went.

So sorry to hear that, I know how hard it is being far away and unable to be there when the worst happens
I hope you have a safe journey and find comfort in being reunited with loved ones.
Take care xxx

Thanks everyone. Just thought id update. I'm back home now (canada) my sister moved heaven and earth to arrange the funeral for monday so I could be there, and I was able to help brother and sister sort thru his things and catch up with family.
I have warned mum to give me a weeks notice is she is planning on moving on!
